Photo print of the Treasury, Petra, Jordan.

Description

This photo captures one of the most magical travel moments in the world: having walked all the way down the Siq, the long passageway amongst the red rocks of Petra… al-Khazneh, or the Treasury, reveals itself. It is one of the most elaborate surviving rock-cut tombs of this ancient Nabataen city, located in present-day Jordan. Carved out of natural sand-stone around the 1st century BCE, it includes figures of armed Amazons and winged Nikes, statues of the twins Castor and Pollux, and symbols referring to al-‘Uzza and Dushara. The interior of this monumental structure is actually its opposite: very plain, once protected from public view by wooden doors. Dark and peaceful on the inside, a bright, majestic and multicultural mix of Greek, Roman, Nabatean, Egyptian, and Syrian architecture on the outside.

Photo taken October 2021. Printed on Giclée Hahnemühle Bamboo, a warm-toned paper made from 90% Bamboo fibres and 10% cotton – combining photography with environmental friendliness. It offers good ageing resistance and guarantees high colour density.

This is a limited edition print, of 50 copies. Please note that it is being sold unframed, so you can choose your a frame that matches your own decorating style.
